FGAS Compliance Award – Winner (2016)

I was tasked with designing, building, and deploying an app to measure the CO2 equivalent emissions of refrigerant gases used in refrigeration and air conditioning units.

The app automatically calculates the CO2 tonne equivalent for the relevant refrigerant gas (FGAS) utilised in these systems, streamlining the process for engineers in just three simple steps. It eliminates the need for time-consuming calculations and functions offline, enabling engineers to use it in remote locations without an internet connection.

In 2016, the CO2e app received the Institute of Refrigeration Ireland’s prestigious FGAS Compliance award, presented during their annual awards reception in Dublin.

Eric Doyle, Managing Director of ISS Ireland, praised the innovation from their technical division, highlighting how it expands their service offering, providing value to clients while prioritising customer and employee care. He sees the app as an example of how they strive to innovate and meet their responsibilities.

Pauric Connolly, General Manager of ISS Technical Services, emphasised the collaborative effort of their in-house digital development team, which led to the creation of a scalable and intelligent solution for capturing essential data. The app not only ensures compliance for their clients but also boosts speed, efficiency, and productivity for their technicians.
